About Us

Champions League Basketball

The Champions League Basketball concept (herein known as CLB) was born in 2014. Since then, Founder & General Manager Matthew Hollard, has brought together Executive and Advisory Teams, comprising both expert basketball and business personnel.

Collectively, these teams are overseeing the process of the Champions League Basketball revolution becoming a reality here in Australia and overseas.

GRASSROOTS

Champions League Basketball has harnessed support from all levels of the Basketball community and has been overwhelmed by the positive encouragement, comments and commitment from the governing bodies right down to the junior grass roots level.

CLB is focussed on providing as many cost effective opportunities as possible for our young players to be active and involved in the sport of 3X3. From skills and drills to school holiday programs & FIBA Endorsed Competitions, boys & girls from as young as 8 years old can enjoy active, safe & friendly environments in which they will learn and harness leadership, team building & co-ordination skills, make friends and create lifelong memories.

3X3 has been known to enhance ones 5on5 game and act as a great cardio workout as well. We encourage all skill levels and abilities and happy to answer any questions from teachers, parents, communities, clubs and associations.

Social & elite

CLB is on a mission to have a truly National 3X3 League by the year 2023. From capital cities to regional areas and everything in between, CLB believes every location has the right to an alternative pathway & produce high level teams that can potentially travel the country and ultimately play on the world stage.

FIBA’s World Tour and Masters is our dream and focus and we look forward to receiving expressions of interest to host your own Elite team right through to guiding our existing teams to an Elite level and looking after you so you can get the most out of your sport.

Our competitions will run in both female, male and mixed categories and harness not only the Elite level players but open & social levels as well. Our weekly social competitions are already a highlight across a number of regions with a min of 4 and max of 8 teams competing each night right through to a Grand Final every single time. Not only do you receive a complete competition and instant gratification every time you play, you can also be done in as little as 1.5 hours.

Our events will also engage with Wheelchair Basketball and all abilities wherever possible and we are extremely passionate and focussed on increasing the female engagement within the 3×3 space and collaborating with remote and regional communities to run skills and drills and FIBA Endorsed 3X3 competitions.

Growing up, Matt had a love of sport, riding bikes and spending time outdoors.

Matt started to play basketball from the age of 5, along with cricket and football.

Matt then went on to study Sports Science and Outdoor Education, which allowed him to immerse himself in his two passions; sports and the great outdoors.

While studying Matt participated in his first triathlon, which also became a passion. He was lucky enough to be able to represent Australia at the world championships in Beijing in 2011 and the 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas in 2013.

Matt has since completed 10 Ironman Triathlons (3.8km swim, 180km bike, 42.2km run) and saw his sporting passion turn into his current career as an Event Manager specialising in outdoor sporting events.

Having spent the last 7 years organising and directing medium to large scale events including food truck festivals, music festivals and more, we can not wait to see Matt’s passion and expertise come to life at our upcoming CLB3X3 Aussie Summer Series.
